Back To Eyeliner | Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner

$

0

Since having a fringe cut, my simple makeup wasn't exactly cutting the look and for several months i haven't really worn eyeliner to work......i guess i was just being lazy! I have now decided that i need to change up my makeup to suit my hair style. I didn't realize how different i would look with bangs!

I was thinking the easiest way to add some definition is to go back to using gel eyeliner. Personally, i think gel liner can make all the difference to the face, and you don't really need to add anything to it. I decided on trying the Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner and wanted to see if it's just as good as my beloved Bobbi Brown Gel Liner.

The Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner comes in a standard pot with 5g of product, which is actually a pretty generous amount! The Bobbi Brown Gel Liner is £17.50 for 3g, so for 50p more you get an additional 2g.....not bad eh?

When i first applied this to my lids....OMG! It glided on in the silkiest way! The formula isn't too thick or thin....just the right consistency.  It is a very smooth and creamy and extremely pigmented. I think it is on par with either the Bobbi Brown or MAC liners.

Before i purchased this liner, i had read on some blogs that it was streaky and uneven, however i haven't found that, but I think it does depend on which brush is used to apply the liner. To be honest it shows as a very deep black on my lid and sometimes i apply another layer to make it more intense. You can see how the eyeliner has worn from the picture below (apologies for the crappy iphone picture). I put this on around 7.30am and the photo was taken around 8pm that evening. It has slightly worn under the flick, but with my oily skin I'm pretty impressed with how long it lasted!

My overall thoughts is that this is a fab liner and i would certainly pick this one over my Bobbi liner purely because you get more for ya buck and it performs just as good as other high end liners.

Illamasqua Precision Gel Liner retails for £18 and can be picked up HERE.

MAC Stereo Rose Is Back.......

Ok, so it's not back right now, however the MSF that has had every makeup junkie obsessed will be returning to our shores on March 6th in the Fantasy of Flowers Collection.

I couldn't get around how overly hyped Stereo Rose was, but it has to be one of the most unique MSF's that MAC has ever released. Maybe that's one of the reasons that it sells for extortionate prices on eBay when it's actually sold out?!

Stereo Rose has been in my collection for a while now and i have mainly used MAC MSF's as a highlighter, this one however, is a combination of a blush and a highlighter. It is a deep coral colour with gold and bronze running through it, complimenting all skin tones.

The formula is exactly the same as the other MAC MSF's, giving the skin radiance and colour, without looking sparkly. It is much more pigmented than the other MSF's in the range, which is why a lot of people like wearing it as a blush and i can understand the popularity of it. Do you need another blush/highlighter in your collection.....certainly not, but I'm guessing every girl is going to want one!

I thought i would give you guys a heads up, as i know this will probably be sold out online and in stores very quickly!

Will you be purchasing MAC's Stereo Rose?

The Back Ups

A few weeks ago, i read a post by Rebecca from Be Beautiful and she was talking about her back up products and i thought it was something i could share with you guys. I think there's quite a few of us who always have a small stash of back up products, in the fear of running out. Also, because i live in the middle of nowhere, it's not easy to just pop to the shops to purchase a new product.

I always ensure i have a MAC Cleanse Off Oil, because it is one of my favourite pre-cleanse products. For several years now, i have been double cleansing at night and my skin feels much more cleaner. It is super gentle and removes pretty much everything, however i still use a second cleanser afterwards. Another cleanser that is always floating around is my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse and Polish. This is a cleanser i always go back to, even after trying and finishing other products. It's handy knowing a have a spare!

The Make Up Forever Smoky Lash mascara is certainly one i will always have a back up of! This is my holy grail mascara and does a wicked job at making my eyelashes look thick, full, long and without looking spidery or clumpy. I picked my first one up at IMATS and then purchased the back up when i was in New York. This mascara isn't the easiest to get hold of here in the UK, so i may end up purchasing a few more at the next IMATS.

A couple of other makeup bits have to be the MAC Strobe Lotion and the YSL Touche Eclat. Many of you know that even with my greasy skin, i love looking radiant and dewy and the strobe lotion is the perfect product for that (full review here). For the last 8 months or so, i have been an avid user of the YSL Touche Eclat and i have to say it's one of the best products for brightening up under the eyes (review here). I picked up a duo pack from duty free when i was flying to New York, so i know this is going to last me a while!

The Body Shop Tea Tree Body Wash is something that i have at least a couple of! I tend to purchase this when i have a discount code from the Body Shop and believe me when i say i buy in bulk! It is one of my favourite shower gels and keeps my skin fresh and clean. I love using this after i have been to the gym, because it is so refreshing to use!

I honesty thought it was just me that always had a back up of products and i always get teased for hoarding by my sister! It's good to know that there are others out there!

What are you back ups?

Current Favourite Lip Combo

$

0

I have been loving this lip combo recently and it's not one you would have thought about putting together. I love rummaging through my makeup collection and finding what other products i can incorporate back into my everyday makeup routine.

A few months back, i was continuously using the Hourglass Aura Sheer Lip Stain in Flush (review here) and i loved it, but i wanted to add a bit of oomph to my lips without it looking OTT for work.

I am obsessed with the Clinique Chubby Sticks....and i have tried quite a few versions of the chubby sticks from other brands, but the ones from Clinique are just so much better from the rest! I guess there's a reason why Clinique came out with it first.

What i have been doing recently, is using the Hourglass stain on my lips and then applying the 'whole lotta honey' chubby stick over it. The colour that you get from wearing both the stain and the chubby stick is gorgeous and isn't too overpowering. For me, i think sometimes stains can look a bit blah on the lips. By layering the chubby stick over the stain, gives it a more unique shade but one that is still wearable for everyday.

I feel that you get the best of both worlds, so you have the beautiful berry lip stain, but you also have the glossiness and hydration from the chubby stick, without having to use a gloss. I have been asked quite a lot what i have been wearing on my lips, so thought i would share it with you guys!

REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser Review

$

0

After finishing the L'Oreal Skin Perfecton Cleanser, i needed something that would HELP my skin and not break me out or block my pores. When the REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser landed on my doorstep, i knew it could be the answer!

I have used a clay based cleanser before, which was the Dermal Clay Cleanser from Dermalogica but found it too drying on my combination skin, so i was a bit hesitant knowing that this was a clay cleanser too. Nevertheless.......this cleanser is completely and utterly different from what i have used before.

Now this cleanser does not foam up and i know many oily girls who love a foaming face wash, I'm one of them! Foaming face washes can actually strip your skin of the natural oils, making you more oily and your skin alkaline, which is a breeding ground for bacteria....hello spots!

This cleanser is not one that will remove your makeup, so ensure you have pre-cleansed before using this. I tend to use this as my morning cleanser and sometimes i use it with my clarisonic at night for a more deeper cleanse.

The clay cleanser is no way as thick as i had previously thought and massages really well onto the skin. When i have a bit more time, i tend to leave the cleanser on my face for a couple of minutes, as it sort of acts like a gentle mask. I use warm water to rinse, because cold water doesn't really remove it the best.

So, what about the results? I have been using it since the middle of November and hands down this is the best cleanser i have ever tried! It is the perfect product to use on blemished prone skin and somehow it manages to not only get rid of those litte nasties but prevents any future breakouts. Yes, i do still get the odd hormonal breakout, but it is nothing like what i was getting before. Additionally the clear packaging makes it easy to see when the product has almost finished.

I am now on my second bottle of this baby and this product is a winner for me! YAY! The REN ClearCalm 3 Clay Cleanser is £18 and can be purchased HERE.

REN Skincare Haul

You may have noticed that i have had a slight REN skincare obsession recently, and when my ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser finished, i used it as an excuse to pick up a few more products!

I'm not going to ramble on about the ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser but after finishing my previous bottle, i knew immediately i would repurchase! It's one of those cleansers that has impacted my skin in a positive way and if you want to read a more in depth review, it can be found HERE.

Rosa Centifolia Hot Cloth Cleanser is a new product to the range, and i adore using a hot cloth cleanser at the end of the day, removing all the dirt, makeup and grime from the daily grind. It also feels as if you are pampering your skin too!

I thought i would add the Micro Polish Cleanser to my shopping basket because i have read it's an amazing product to use before the REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask (full review here). Even though it is described as a cleanser, it is more of a scrub to be used a couple of times a week, to slough away dead skin cells. My MAC Volcanic Ash scrub is nearly finishing, and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try a new face scrub.

Thankfully, i received a couple of samples from REN, which was more of the Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask, Micro Polish Cleanser, as well as Omega 3 Optimum Skin Serum Oil. I think i will keep hold of these for when i'm travelling!

I will keep you all updated on how these products are going and may either do a blog post or an updated skin care video on my channel.

My At-Home Facial

$
0
0

I love getting facials, however where i live, facials cost between £40-£60! I think it's a nice treat every so often, but i don't think i could justify spending that every month. For a while now, i have been giving myself an at-home facial and it's a great way to pamper yourself with your existing products and without breaking the bank!

Setting the scene

Make sure you have all your products that you want to use. I would suggest lighting some candles, have some relaxing music playing in the background. Have a comfy couch or bed nearby, so you can truly relax.

Cleanse, cleanse, cleanse

Remove all your eye makeup. I like using the Elemis White Flower Eye & Lip Makeup Remover* (review here) because it is very gentle and removes all traces of eye makeup.

Next, use a cleansing oil as your first cleanser. My favourite has to be the MAC Cleanse Off Oil, as this pretty much removes everything from my face. For my second cleanser, i love using the REN ClearCalm 3 Clarifying Cleanser (review here).

Exfoliate

Using an exfoliator is extremely important as it removes dead skin cells and prevents blocked pores, which leads to blackheads and then form into dreaded spots! I would recommend using an exfoliator that is for your skin type and my current one is the MAC Volcanic Ash Exfoliator.

Give your skin a bit of steam

This is where i head into the bath or a shower, but if you don't want to do that you can fill up your wash basin with hot water. I like to add a few drops of essential oil and depending on my mood, it would either be lavender for relaxation, or eucalyptus oil for decongesting.

Cover your head with a towel, close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. The steam helps open your up pores and will also allow for deep cleansing.

Mask Time

Depending on my skin concern, i use different masks. My top 3 masks are Ren Radiance Renewal Masque (review here), The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask and GlamGlow Supermud Mask Clearing Treatment (review here).

Some masks are great for drawing out impurities and others are radiance boosting masks. I normally try to leave my masks on for about 10 minutes, however, i always manage to leave them on longer, as i get sidetracked!

Tone

Toning is really important, as it will close up any pores that are still left open. My day to day toner is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion No. 2 (review here) and if i am going through a blemish phase, then i resort to using The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner.

Serum

Serums are a great way to help give your skin a targeted treatment. I normally give myself a facial in the evening, so i would just finish off using the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair.

Moisturizer

When i give myself a facial during the day then i would make sure i use a good, hydrating moisturiser. My favourite one has to be the Elemis Pro-Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm (review here). My go-to night time moisturizer is the Elemis Tri-Enzyme Resurfacing Night Cream (review here).

It's all about the eyes

The eye area is just as important as the face, if not more! My all time favourite eye cream is the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair. It feels extremely light under the eye area and instantly hydrates.

I love giving my skin a facial every so often, because our faces always need a pamper! I hope you found this post helpful and would love to hear how you pamper your skin at home!

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12 Hour Blush 'Natural Beauty' Review

$

Morning everyone!!! I know i haven't been around for the last few weeks but I'm back now!! Many of us here in the UK are excited for the launch of Tarte Cosmetics and i thought it was the perfect opportunity to share with you a blusher that i have been enjoying using recently. Looking at the picture above....don't you just adore the embossing on the blush?!

Natural Beauty reminds me of MAC's Frankly Scarlet, but much more softer and pinkier. It is a blush that will suit pretty much all skin tones. I know that a red blush may seem daunting, however it gives the skin a very natural flush (depending on how much you put on!).

For me, i am finding this blush a great transitioning colour from winter into spring, as it's a mixture of a pink and red. Natural Beauty has been ideal to wear at this time of year, because it is perfect shade for the sunny, crisp mornings of spring. I have been impressed on how long this stays put on my oily skin, i don't need to reapply it throughout the day unlike other blushes.

I adore the packaging of all Tarte products, but the compacts for the blushers really stand out. For someone who has tons of blushers, the packaging reflects the colour of the blushers, so it's much easier to find what you're looking for!

I have been using a MAC 187 Stipling Brush, as it applies the right amount of product to my cheeks without looking heavy or too much and have been receiving endless amounts of compliments! I love how this appears on my skin and gives a healthy look to the face.

I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday and i will speak to you beautiful people soon! xXx

Spring Blush Picks

$

0

I have been really enjoying the weather recently and it's got me thinking about my Spring makeup bag, especially my choices of blush. I find that the perfect Spring blush can brighten up the face, so i thought i would share my picks!

Illamasqua Excite

This is one of my favourite Illamasqua blushes! Excite is a coral blush with a strong hint of orange and is packed with a lot of colour. I tend to use this when i have a bit more colour to my face, but it gives olive skin tones a beautiful glow.

Jordana Redwood

A light hand would be needed for this blush and the vibrancy of the red would look stunning on fairer skin tones, as well as warmer skin tones too. It is very pigmented and has the tiniest hint of gold shimmer. This blush gives the skin an instant pick me up.

Milani Corallina

A shimmery pinky, coral blush with gold flecks running through. It is a bit more shimmering than Nars Orgasm, and it's a shade i would prefer to wear in the evening due to the shimmer. Corallina does give the skin a healthy highlighted glow.

MAC Peaches

For those girls who want some colour but not too much, MAC Peaches is perfect. It is a soft, warm coral that compliments all skin tones. I love that it's a matte blusher, so it teams well with many highlighters.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush Natural Beauty

This has been my go-to blush over the last few weeks and has become a firm favourite (full review here). It gives me skin a healthy Spring flush and lasts on my skin all day!

*Clarins Multi-Blush Clementine

Clementine isn't quite a powder blush, nor a cream blush....it's more of a hybrid of both. It has the ease of blending like a cream blush, but sets on the skin like a powder. It is a deeper coral with a red undertone, instantly brightening up the face.

Daniel Sandler Watercolour Blush Acid & Trip

I adore these Watercolour blushes! My favourite out of the two is Trip, which is a neon orange. These are super easy to blend, and are perfect for oily skinned girls, as they pretty much set on the skin (full review here). Acid is a bright pink, complimenting lighter skin tones beautifully, but these can be mixed with other Watercolour blushes.

These are the blushes that will be rotating in my makeup bag for a while. The different textures and finishes will give me a bit more flexibility and allow me to play around with different looks for work or when going out in the evening.

What are your Spring picks?

The Face Acids

$
0
0

I have been a teeny, tiny bit obsessed with using acids on my skin. I have quite congested skin and need a product that sloughs away the dead skin cells, and de-clog pores without having to use a manual exfoliator. Here are a few that i have been using for a while, and wanted to share my thoughts. Just a quick note that i tend to use all these products before bed.

Mario Badesco Glycolic Gel

I have only been using this the last month or so, and i have to say I'm pretty impressed. It is a mixture of AHA's and glycolic acid, making it the perfect product for cell turnover. I apply this to my skin once it has been cleansed, and it instantly absorbs into my face. When i wake up in the morning, my congestion seems reduced. This is fab for the pimples that are under the skin, or any nasty blackheads. Again, i only use this when i can see congestion forming or when my skin is starting to look a bit dull.

Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel

This is like a treatment mask and is made up of 20% AHA's including lactic, glycolic and fruit acids. It comes with a little face brush and you apply the gel onto clean skin, leaving it on for about 10 minutes. My face does tingle at first and can feel a bit uncomfortable on sensitive skin. After removal, my skin appears much more smoother and any dryness has pretty much vanished. I love seeing the results in the morning, after using the Lemon Strip Flash Peel. It is one that i would use about once a week when my skin becomes congested and uneven.

Alpha-H Liquid Gold

One of my favourite night treatments! It contains 5% glycolic acid and gently exfoliates the skin whilst you sleep. It is meant to be used every other night and this really does make a difference to the skin (full review here). It gets rid of those tiny bumps under the skin, whilst evening it out, making it appear much more radiant.

Origins Brighter By Nature Pads

These are easy convenient wipes, and saves you faffing around with cotton pads. They are pre-soaked pads with salicylic acid and help even out the skin tone (full review here). There are 40 pads in the tub, which makes it a pretty expensive treatment. Out of all the 'acid' products, i would have to say this is my least favourite, because i find that other products give better results to my skin.

I don't tend to use these all in one go, but i just go with what my skin tells me and select a product accordingly. My favourite has to be the Alpha-H Liquid Gold for an overnight treatment and then to for more instant results, i would use the Ole Henriksen Lemon Strip Flash Peel. I would always use a suncream on my face to protect my skin, as the acids can make the skin sensitive.

What are you favourite acid products?

A Personal Post.........

$

Image taken from Google

Today's post is going to be slightly different and it's a bit of a personal one.......i guess i just needed to get this off my chest as my family don't seem to understand. I did a post (here) on this topic a while back, so please feel free to read it.

Over the last few years the pressure for marriage has intensified a lot and it seems that many members of my family are trying to push me towards marriage. I don't know if it's because I'm the eldest and my parents are seeing my cousins (who are younger than me by the way) getting married, as well as starting families.

Personally, it feels as though this pressure is too much. I'm trying to distract myself with work but it's always on my mind. Hence why i haven't really been blogging or uploading videos to YouTube. To my parents, it looks like I'm failing because I'm not married. They can't seem to see the other things i have achieved in my life without a husband. A husband doesn't make you who you are!

I guess this post is on what should i do? Should i just give in and have an arranged marriage or should i wait for the right guy to come along?! At the moment i am extremely confused and also conflicted between culture, religion and also my wishes.

Do i want to get married? Of course! However, it's something that you can't rush (in my head anyway) and i want to be with the right guy that I'm compatible with.

Sometimes i despise all this cultural expectation and how it can almost ruin a girls life. Why can't parents be happy with their child studying, working and being independent? Why does everything always lead back to marriage and starting a family? I feel that's all I'm made for......to get married and pop out kids.

I feel that some asian parents can have such a traditional way of thinking and sometimes it's like back the f**k off! I want to actually achieve something in my life and not just settle. Living at home doesn't help the situation at all, i get lectured on a daily basis. It's actually gotten to the point that my parents are asking relatives to speak to me, trying to make me understand the importance of marriage and how i need to settle down because of my age.

To be quite honest, it makes me feel like utter crap. It seems as though i can't enjoy my life, being single and free, and everything has to boil down to marriage. I don't know if it's just my parents, or if there are others like that out there?! I've wanted to make the most of being single and doing all those things that you can do! I don't have any major responsibilities and i want to enjoy all the freedom, whilst i have it. I know that when people get married and have families, life changes.

I guess this post is just about me rambling on and trying to write down what's going on in my head. I would love to get some advice or hear about if anyone else has been in similar situations?

This post isn't meant to offend anyone, it is purely what is going on in my life at the moment, so thank you for taking the time to read this.

Until next time.
xXx
